VISUAL STUDIES - as usual left to myself I been doing some research into Glitch drawings this time and also sketching some myself.I came to understand that even its seems distorted art it's not as easy to create as it would seem, there is some of my quick sketches.
I still leaning towards creating a sculpture, but every artist I came across mostly do the wood work and I can't see for me do any carvings as I have no idea how to.
I found this amazing Japanese artist -
Yoshitoshi Kanemaki who's wood carving techniques introducing surreal motifs into his sculptural work.

Idea behind it is the split personalities. His outstanding works
really makes us think about mortality and
transience.
“What is life? What is death?” asks Kanemaki. With the understanding that he will never arrive at an answer, the artist continues his meditation on the subject.
In my case there would be different ideas behind it.
So, to start with something I purchases air drying clay to do some experiments
at home, with shapes and forms.
STUDY SKILLS – we were asked to make a Gantt chart - one of the most popular and useful ways of scheduling and project management activities (tasks or events) over time.
On the left of the
chart is a list of the activities and along the top is a suitable time scale.
Each activity is represented by a bar; the position and length of the bar
reflects the start date, duration and end date of the activity. This allows you
to see at a glance.
I will be highlighting them as I will go along. I agree it is good to have something like that to track my records and make sure I dot fall behind.
I made some entries of tasks I need to do and the time I need to do them so as for tomorrow I will start writing an essay of 3000 words about researching, reflecting, etc. – to be able have time to proofread my work before handing in.
FINE ART – at this
stage it is a waiting game as my oil experiments takes ages to dry and I even didn’t
put as much layers as needed. I suppose I have to start using some additional mediums to
speed up the process of drying.
… and this is just
my experiment canvas - so I really a bit stuck at the moment.
We had a lovely
seminar about unusual artists and way they are expressing themselves with a
help of art.
Rowena raised a question,
but what about us…are we also want to use an art as the way of relief, or express
of emotions.
My reply personally
is NO – I have my daemons and I have my pain and to be honest no one cares,
well maybe 2% rest is only curious. So why would I feed someone’s curiosity.
I make an art as I see
and what I like, and as I hope could suit contemporary style. I don’t want to
shock or please anyone. All I really want to develop sort of unique style
within to make a bit difference from others. There is lots of similarities
about – people rather than being inspired trying to copy each other and it's not good...
So yes, at the
moment my progress is slow. Still besides my final artwork I need to tick other
boxes what comes along with Study skill brief. I just hope I be able to
complete all in time.
ILLUSTRATION – my least
favourite, and don’t get me wrong I love illustrators and they work, I think it
is an amazing skill, what I don’t have unfortunately.
I read the books,
it is strange choice, as previous years entries were based on one story. Here
however is three, which not really relate to each other. The only thing in
common in these stories is the role of the woman in all of them.
So, I don’t really
know how to approach this. At the moment, I am looking of past times illustrations
of same books, also watching films to get into the spirit.
Considering it is a Victorian
era I probably go monochrome, but still it’s all just some rough ideas. What
also would be nice to get old Times newspaper and draw illustrations with an
ink on top of it.
Also, ideal would be source my own imaginary but then I need to travel to London at least,
or find some Victorian museum nearby. It has to be right to fit in the book.
So far working on
ideas is in progress.
