WEEK VI

So I am back on track - after a week off, which is unusual for university students this time a year, I am ready  to embrace all what's coming to me, meaning deadlines  :/

VISUAL STUDIES~ Having done quite few workshops we are now been given brief on the theme GLICH.
I always thought I am pretty much educated person, but sometimes  I feel there is so much more to learn an explore that I never going to catch up. AS TODAY I learned about Glitch art - errors what people using or making specially to create unique pieces like this Swiss artist I researched today - Andy Donzler - who deliberately creates his oil  paintings ~ with a glitch ~ a beautiful, dreamy glitch effect. You wouldn't think it could work but it does he is internationally well know and very successful.
So as many others who chose to create errors for us to admire.

As it's all very open subject we been asked to look up and research - experiment and try to create something what could be glitch from our point of view. The deadline for this is last week of studies in December. I actually quite exited about this, so I will see where it will lead me.

STUDY SKILLS ~ week notice of 1000 word analysis ~ not a pretty surprise, but at least there is theme of analyse work of our choice, so its easy as long as I find the right words for it.
It is much better than Presentation, witch is set for December where we have to present something what I hate or dislike art related. For me this is very hard as in art I don't have anything I dislike, any type of art is art and not for me to judge it. So this is very difficult decision to be made.

Returning to 1000 words I exactly know what I am going to right about Loving Vincent ~ film I went to see two weeks ago. It made such impact on me that it cant be overlooked. I started yesterday 130 words, so only 870 or so to go...wish me luck. :)

FINE ART ~ my most favourite subject. Subject where I feel like my self, where I can really fallow things I love and make experiments, make mistakes and its all ads up to one lovey piece of art.

For a first part of the lesson we were watching videos about two different type of artists with still lots of common, the main understanding of how to really engage viewer.

Image result for grayson perryThe first was an incredible Grayson Perry - I have to say, shame on me I never heard about him, but I am so so grateful that I do now. He is mad but in the best incredible way possible. Being able to create wooden carvings, sculpures paintings, tapestry and poterry - work with all these elements and be successful as he is ~ it is pure wonderful madness. I love his work I so wish to go and see it as soon as possible. I feel deep need to look at it personally, engage with it to truly experience he's wonderful way of story telling ~

Other artist was very different from one above but there is no chance you wouldn't want to engage and see the message behind his work. Unfortunately I was so overwhelmed with Perry's work I didn't make a note of other artist name, I will do for my own records as he's work also was incredible labour of patience and mindfulness. Also meditation. Small lines, patterns, making up large scale of works, taking him months to produce. One word AMAZING.!

So as you can see the Fine Art session went very fine. I also managed to prime my canvas to start my experimentation with oils + texture.

ILLUSTRATION ~ surprisingly wasn't so bad as I hand it in my work, it is done and dusted.

Unfortunately it wasn't what I really hoped because I wanted to do one as large scale experiment and other one as final, but 1000 word written work get in the way to my creativity and I have to end this task with my experiment piece, which not bad, but not as good as it should be either.

It was initially my favourite photograph, but I wasn't sure if its truly suitable for the task, is it shows emotions good enough as required?! Oh well - I will never be an illustrator, even thousand years will past, It is just not me and its good as it gets.

HALF TERM

Week off and really, I didn't do anything to be proud off regarding studies. I did some research and doodling, but still not even close to completing my must done tasks regarding Illustration.

The artist I looked up this week was Illustrator Gary Wing and Fine artist Caro Saint Vire.

Gary Wing was already in my connections in LinkedIn so I was sort of familiar with his style and its everything I would love to be....

Easy lines – loose style, splash of colours, done… I been fallowing his work for a while now and its becoming clearer, that my illustration will be done in similar way, with help from above of course

Other even bigger inspiration comes from Fine artist Caro Saint Vire who also I been fallowing now more than a year. She’s oil paintings of seaside landscapes are sort of speaking to me, when I look upon them there is everything what I miss not being able to live by sea at the moment.

My aim is to explore her style and gain something for myself, this is style of paintings I want to create, adding texture to it. There are a lot of experimentation on the way for me and hope that one day I will have my distinctive character of painting.
